Saudi National Atomic Energy Project

As part of the Saudi National Atomic Energy Project, K.A.CARE has completed the site licensing process, which represents one of the main milestones of the project. K.A.CARE has worked with the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC), the Saudi Nuclear Energy Holding Company (SNEHC), and Duweihin Nuclear Energy Company to develop a comprehensive site license application in 2022. This was before addressing the regulatory requirements of the NRRC. The project received site license approval confirming the suitability of the Duweihin site for building a nuclear power plant. It also obtained a preliminary electricity generation permit from the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority, and an environmental permit from the National Center for Environmental Compliance. .

In addition, the Center is responsible for other tasks, such as:

  1. Developing and implementing the Kingdom’s national framework for the radioactive waste.
  2. Constructing and operating facilities for radioactive waste.
  3. Providing consultancy services related to radioactive waste.
